Job Summary
The Plant Supervisor will assist with plant operations include batching, dispatching, quality control, inventory control, plant cleanup, plant mixer cleaning, facilities management and other duties as directed by management. Deliver ready-mixed concrete and other associated products to construction job sites. Work closely with dispatch and customers to provide superior product and customer service.
- Manage production of ready mixed concrete within specifications, and within parameters of maximum plant production capacity per company and manufacturers specifications. Ensure drivers are loaded timely to meet customer needs.
- Dispatch ready mix concrete in a timely manner. Provide effective customer service and dispatch support by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of company products and programs.
- Maintain adequate and cost effective inventory levels of all products.
- Order raw materials such as cement, fly ash, chemical admixtures, and aggregates through coordination with the Materials Manager.
- Manage raw materials using loader.
- Perform various quality control functions i.e. moisture checks, slump tests, air entrainment tests and temperature tests that are congruent to company standards.
- Perform end of day cleanup at batch plant.
- Supervise and assist with various plant maintenance tasks such as greasing, adjustments, cleaning bag houses and venting systems, shoveling and plant system checks.
- Assist in maintenance of computerized batching equipment, material handling and color computers and other misc. maintenance as required.
- Process daily paperwork, including production reports as required.
- Implementation and support of company safety and environmental programs.
- Wheel loader operations as necessary.
- Oversee drivers to ensure adequate concrete production and truck cleanliness during off peak times.
- Supervise and direct personnel to accommodate customer service.
- Deliver ready-mixed concrete and other associated products to construction job sites within a reasonable proximity due to the perishability of ready-mixed concrete.
- Perform all Ready-Mix Driver duties when applicable.
- Weekend dispatching and/or delivery of ready-mix concrete as business requires.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B)
- Maintain DOT Medical Card
- Loader and Forklift Certification
- MNDOT Plant 1 Certification
- Possess initiative and leadership experience.
- Work with customers, drivers, and other company personnel in a professional manner.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical functions of various components and equipment including electrical, pneumatics, compressed air, mixer trucks, batch plant equipment, water systems and computerized batching equipment.
